Frizzle is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series.

Description

A more powerful version of Frizz, it targets a single enemy and is usually learnt by Mages.

Appearances

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake

Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is used by Lump Shamen, Dragonflies, Minidemons, Mimics, and Cosmic chimaeras in battle, costing 6 MP to cast for the first time since X.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake

Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is already learned by Matilda when she joins the Scions of Erdrick full-time and can also be learned by Peronel after exchanging 15 Mini medals at the Isle of the Monarch of Medals. It costs 6 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Cobra kaisers, Deplorias, Scytan, and Nekomancer, as well as Hell Ninos, Dragonflies, Lump Shamen, Minidemons, Cosmic Chimaeras, and Mimics once again.

Dragon Quest III

Making its debut, it is learned by Mages and Sages at level 17. It costs 6 MP to cast, and is also used by Minidemons, Mimics, Leger-de-men, and Troobloovoodoos, as well as Hell Niños, Lump Shamen, Chiromancer, and Garboyle in the HD-2D Remake.

Dragon Quest IV

Learned by Maya at level 19, it deals between 70~90 damage. It costs 4 MP to cast, and is also used by Grim Keepers, Sasquashes, Picudas, Well Wishers in the remakes, and Aamon, as well as Minidemons and Mimics once again.

Dragon Quest V

Acting the same as in IV, it is Learned by Bianca and Nera at level 20, recruited King Slimes at level 12, recruited Samiginas at level 14, recruited Prestidigitators at level 19, and already learned by recruited Minidemons. It costs 4 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Canniboxes, Gamigins, Orobases, and Kon the Knight, as well as Minidemons and Mimics once again. In the remakes, it can also be learned by recruited Metal Slimes at level 7, recruited Wax Murderers at level 12, and recruited Ghosts and Wiz Pips at level 30.

Dragon Quest VI

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by advancing to Rank 5 of the Mage vocation. It costs 4 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Well Wishers, Thugglers, Wrecktors, Delusionists, Dingbats, Demon Deacons, Ginormooses, Barbatoses, Elepuses, The Time Being, and the Envoy, as well as Picudas once again in the 3DS remake. In the game's Reimagined remake, it is learned by advancing to Proficiency Rank 3 of the Mage vocation. It costs 8 MP to cast for the first time since XI, and is also used by Barbatoses and Grody Gumpdrops after the latter gets Worked Up, as well as Purrestidigitators once again.

Dragon Quest VIII

Learned by Jessica at level 21, it deals 56~72 base damage, and will deal 104~120 damage once her wisdom surpasses 200. It costs 4 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Magic Dumbbells, Shadow Slimes, and Morrimps, as well as Minidemons once again.

Dragon Quest IX

Learned by Mages at level 30, it deals 70~80 base damage, and will steadily grow once the caster's magical might surpasses 100, the cap for this spell being 190~210. It costs 4 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Purrestidigitators, Live Lavas, and Hootingham-Gore.

Dragon Quest X

Acting the same as in IX, it is learned by Mages at level 28, Dancers at level 32, and by investing 12 skill points into a recruited monster’s Frizz Knowledge skill tree, it is calculated as Magical Might x 0.305 + 32.9, raising the base range of 58~66 to 180~188 once the caster's magical might passes 496. It costs 6 MP to cast for the first time since its debut, and is also used by Jinksters, Terror Tabbies, Grim Candles, Firebirds, Discombombulators, Flying corpses, Prancing Pillars, Lump Shamen, Tantamounts, Bags o' sweets, Caliconjurers, Hikuinadons, Duke Sigras, Mystical Juliante, Chuggy, Muggy, Ruggy, Magiroddos, and Buchi Doses, as well as Minidemons, Purrestidigitators, Live Lavas, once again. In the Offline version of the game, it is learned by the Hero in the same vocations at the same levels and is also used by Galmy when she temporally fights alongside the Hero.

Dragon Quest XI

Learned by Veronica at level 23 and the Luminary at level 25, it hits for 54~70 damage before capping at 106~122 based on the caster's magical might. It costs 8 MP to cast for the first time since the Joker 3 games, and is also used by Professauruses, Sinderella, Boodiful Wizards, Metal Slimes gone Vicious, Mordegon’s Staff, and Archfiend’s Acolyte, as well as Lump Shamen, Tantamounts, Firebirds, Grim Keepers, and Troobloovoodoos once again.

Dragon Warrior Monsters

Known as Blazemore in this game, it is an upgraded form of Blaze. Blaze will grow into Blazemore when the monster reaches at least level 13 with at least 46 MP and 64 intelligence. It can be learned naturally by 1EyeClown, demonite, fireweed, gateguard, Jamirus, lavaman, madcandle, metaly, Mimic, Mirudraas and servant. Blazemore grows into Blazemost when the monster reaches at least level 28 with at least 112 MP and 146 Intelligence.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2

Blazemore now requires 116 Intelligence to learn and 263 Intelligence to upgrade.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker

Frizzle cost 4 MP to cast, has a 191~207 maximum damage range, and can be learned from:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2/Professional

Frizzle deals up to 202~208 damage and can no longer be learned from Diabolist or Muspell. It can now also be learned from:

Frizzle costs 5 MP and is learned via the Firebrand, Frizz Afficionado, Frizz Virtuoso, Hardliner, Hottie, Pyrotechnician, Smart Blazer, Smarty-Pants, Spicy Slasher, and Strong Speller talents. It has a base power of 90, and will increase as the monster's wisdom stat rises above 100; at 699 wisdom it will deal an average of 220 damage.

Appears as a spell for Grackys.

Dragon Quest Walk

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by Mages at level 20, Sages at level 18, and Archmages at level 5, as well as learned at level 15 when wielding the Aliahan sword, level 8 when wielding the Lolly stick and Starry cane weapons, and already learned when wielding the Magma staff and Fond wand weapons, as well as equipping the hearts of Minidemons, Jinksters, Drake Slimes, Terror Tabbies, Kaleidocats, and Fire Balls, costing 9 MP to cast. Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai - A Hero's Bonds

Frizzle appears as a spell for Hadlar and the Luminary Leader. It is a long-range attack that deals magical Fire damage over a small area and raises the user's Fire damage for a short time. The main way to unlock the spell is by obtaining the Celestial Sceptre through Treasure Hunts or through the shop exchange.

Dragon Quest Treasures

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by Slimes, Metal slimes, Silhouettes, King she-slimes, and Wight kings at level 18, replacing Frizz and costs 9 MP to cast for the first time since Walk.

Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest - The Adventure of Dai

Can be used by Popp, Dai (his Frizz will become Frizzle when using his Draconic Aura) and by Maam (named Magic Bullet: Frizzle) and her Magic Bullet Gun.
