Garboyle is a boss monster in Dragon Quest III and a character in the Dragon Quest series.

Biography
Making his debut from the Super Famicom version of the game onwards, he is the monster fought by Ortega in Mt. Necrogond during the game's intro, replacing the dragon from the NES original and took him down with him, being rewarded by Baramos for defeating Ortega, though both are unaware that he survived and fell into Alefgard. When the future Erdrick and his party are about to throw Simão's Mountaincleaver into the very volcano he fought Ortega at, Garboyle confronts them and mocks the death of his father, hoping to repeat history and proceeds to fight them. Despite a harrowing fight, Garboyle is defeated, and curses his loss, now recognizing that Erdrick succeeded where his father failed.
In Japanese version, he however does not recognize the Hero until before the time of his demise, merely calling a human which prove to be fatal to him.
