Description

The effects of a Woosh spell

Conjures a small whirlwind to rip into a group of enemies. It is typically learned by Priests.

Appearances

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake

Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is used by Dark skeletons, as well as Lump Wizards once again, costing 4 MP to cast once again.

Dragon Quest II

Making its debut, it is learned by the Princess of Moonbrooke at Level 4 (In the HD-2D Remake, she already learned the spell when she joins the Scions of Erdrick) and deals 17~33 damage. It costs 4 MP to cast, and is also used by Terrordactyls, Hawk Men, Dark Skeletons, Catulas, Lump Wizards, and Lumpfather in the HD-2D Remake.

Dragon Quest III

Acting the same as in II, it is learned by Priests and Sages at Level 12, and will deal between 8~24 damage for 4 MP once again. It is also used by Lump wizards and Belisha beakons in battle, as well as Catulas, Weaken beakons, and the Ripper of the Rift in the HD-2D Remake.

Dragon Quest IV

Woosh is learned by Meena at level 9, dealing 8~24 for damage for a reduced cost of 2 MP. These are the parameters that will define the spell for subsequent games, and is also used by Cyclowns and Whizzards in battle.

Acting the same as in IV, it is learned by the Hero and recruited Conkuistadors at level 8, recruited Rotten Apples at level 5, and already learned by recruited Hawk Men. It costs 2 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Growlbears, Hawk men, and Rotten apples in battle, as well as Conkuistadors in the remakes.

Dragon Quest VI

Acting the same as in its last 2 appearances, it is already known by Nevan upon joining the party, while other characters can learn it by advancing to rank 2 of the Priest vocation. It costs 2 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Gustodians and the First Trial in battle.

Dragon Quest VII

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by advancing to Rank 2 of the Priest vocation and Rank 1 of the Draguar. It costs 2 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Zeplings, Conkuistadors, and Sunken spirits in battle. In the Reimagined remake, it is learned the same way, but instead targets 2 to 3 random enemies. It costs 4 MP to cast for the first time since I HD-2D, and is also used by Cyclowns once again.

Dragon Quest VIII

Woosh is already known by Angelo upon joining the party. It possesses a base damage of 6~19, and will begin to approach a cap of 19~32 once Angelo's wisdom reaches 64. It costs 2 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Giant moths in battle.

Dragon Quest IX

Learned by Minstrels at level 12 and Luminaries at level 11, it slices a group of enemies with a small whirlwind, dealing 8~24 base damage and will start to reach its cap of 61~77 once the caster's magical might reaches 50. It costs 3 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Badger magers, Maguses, and the Master of Nu'un in battle.

Dragon Quest X

Luminaries and Minstrels learn Woosh at levels 12 and 18, and already learned by Pirates, as well as investing 3 skill points into a recruited monster's Woosh Knowledge skill tree after their 4th reincarnation and is also learned by Priests at level 20 from the latter half of 7.6 onwards, with the spell's strength being calculated as Magical Might x 0.185 + 7.35 for a base range of 9~19 and a cap of 23~33, striking enemies within its range multiple times like a real twister. It costs 3 MP to cast for the first time since Joker 2 Professional, and is also used by Mitey Oaks, Rumble bees, and the Leaf spirit, as well as Zeplings once again in battle. In the Offline version of the game, it is learned by the Hero in the same vocations at the same levels, and is already learned by Fuura and Prince Laguas when they join the party.

Dragon Quest XI

Serena and Sylvando will learn Woosh at level 14 and 20, respectively. The spell's base range is 12~36, and will reach the cap of 36~60 once either character's magical might hits 80. It costs 5 MP to cast, and is also used by Grim gryphons and the Archfiend's acolyte, as well as Lump Wizards and Cyclowns once again.

Dragon Warrior Monsters

Called Infernos in this game, it requires the monster to reach level 2 with 10 MP and 21 Intelligence. It grows into Infermore when the monster reaches level 11 with 38 MP and 56 Intelligence. It is naturally learned by the andreal, facer, goathorn, gulpple, lionex, madpecker, whiteking, windbeast and windmerge.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2

Infernos now requires 38 Intelligence to learn and 101 Intelligence to upgrade. It is naturally learned by the cragdevil, garudian, landowl, sickler and vampirus.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker

Woosh costs 3 MP to cast and will deal up to 64~74 damage, and can be learned from various skill trees.

Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Series

Reappearing from Battle Road onwards, it is the red button spell for Drackmages and Stumpkins, and the blue button spell for Chimaeras, the last of which becomes Swoosh when they're paired up with the player in the Priest vocation.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2/Professional

Woosh deals 11~15 base damage and up to 68~72 at max. It can no longer be learned from Bird Brain. It can now be learned with 3 points in Woosh & Sizz.

Terry's Wonderland 3D & Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key

Woosh costs 4 MP and deals a narrow base range of 14~15, rising up to 71~78 damage when the monster's Wisdom is 499.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3

Woosh has the same cost and damage ranges as in the previous two games.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince

Woosh costs 4 MP to cast and is learned via the Blowy Slasher, Blusterer, Magic Maven, Swirling Dervish, Woosh Afficionado talents. It has a base power of 15 and will deal an average of 75 once the monster's wisdom reaches 499.

Dragon Quest Heroes

Woosh is already known by Isla when she joins the party and is the main spell that she can use. It costs 7 MP to cast and creates a small whirlwind that damages any enemies caught within it for a few seconds. When used in conjunction with Isla's other attacks, she is able to rack up a lot of hits and damage. Isla can upgrade Woosh and is able to cast Swoosh and Kaswoosh by charging up the spell.

Dragon Quest Heroes II

Acting the same as in the first Heroes, it is already known by Meena when she joins the party, costing 4 MP to cast for the first time since III.

Dragon Quest Walk

Woosh is learned by Priests at level 10 and costs 10 MP to cast. It inflicts a small amount of Woosh-type spell damage to all enemies.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Woosh appears as the Hero's up special move in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It is a small whirlwind that sends the Hero up a short distance. Nearby opponents will also be sent into the air the same distance. Holding the special button down will turn the move into Swoosh and then Kaswoosh.

Dragon Quest Tact

Already learned by Drackmages, Lipses, Devilmoths, Cumulus rexes, Leafy larrikins, Lime slimes, and Vendor Ghosts when they are recruited, Teeny sanguinis at level 16, and Acorn Babies at level 18, it acts the same as in previous appearances and costs 6 MP to cast. A scroll of this spell can also be obtained at the Summer Fest and DQV Medal Swap Shops for 750 Event Medals, as well as clearing Stage 2 of Majellan, Bewarewolf, Cumulus vex, and Mindini Hunter's Battle Roads and Stage 4 of Kon the Knight, Saber, and Low djinks's Battle Roads.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai - A Hero's Bonds

Woosh appears as a spell for Maam in her Nayle Outfit, Romos Raiment, and Summer Style, as well as the Luminary Leader. It is a long-range attack over a very wide area that inflicts magical Slash damage. It is already known by Maam in her Nayle Outfit when she joins the party and can be unlocked by obtaining the Pixie pole from Treasure Hunts.

Dragon Quest Treasures

Already learned by Hat hamwitches, Shadow ministers, Stormy sabrecats and Valhalla vultures when they are recruited, it summons a small tornado that chases an enemy down and hitting it multiple times. It costs 5 MP to cast since XI.

Dragon Quest Champions

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned at level 10 when wielding the Edged boomerang, and already learned when wielding the Butterfly baton and Staff of sentencing weapons, costing 7 MP to cast for the first time since Heroes.

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is the Coup de Grâce for the Oak staff and costs 5 Gauge to cast.

Enemy versions

When cast by an enemy in III, Woosh deals 6~18 damage. This would be the standard until VIII, where the damage was reduced to 5~14. Beginning with IX, it was raised to 6~21.
