Obsidian is Hendrik's horse that appears during the events of Dragon Quest XI.

Biography

Dragon Quest XI

At the start of the game, it assists Hendrik at The Costa Valor to tries to catch the Darkspawn and Erik escaping their kingdom by means of the Door of Departure.

The same horse isn't seen until after the events of going to Dundrasil the 1st time, where it assists its rider to chase down the Luminary until Jade intervenes. Obsidian appears helping Hendrik, the Luminary, and the citizens of the Last Bastion fight against an army of monsters led by the Headless honcho, which the humans win. Hendrik later has it guard Amber until after Tyriant's defeat at Heliodor Castle, and later appears alongside the Luminary's own horse for the Steeds of Destruction Pep Power. It and Hendrik can also have friendly races with the Luminary and Sylvando (Along with Margarita and the former's steed) during the Black Cup of the Sand National at Gallopolis, the horse's birthplace.

Obsidian can also be mentioned during the extra Jasper boss fight at Heliodor's Balcony from the Definitive Edition onwards if the player has the game set on Draconian Mode.
