dragonquest
Not to be confused with the spitfire of earlier games.

The spitzfire is a monster who appears in the Dragon Quest series.

Characteristics

The first in a genus of canine wyrms, the spitzfire is a red-orange dragon with a fur coat save for its scaly underside. The tail and head are more dog than dragon, yet it lacks floppy ears and has a horn. Tends to lay dormant during the day or until sufficiently provoked. Can be dangerous at low levels because it sometimes attacks twice.
