Monster Master (Monster Wrangler in III HD-2D Remake) is a vocation in the Dragon Quest series.

Though one of the weaker vocations statistically, the Monster Master makes up for its poorer physical and magical attributes by learning group-hit attacks such as breath skills. Much like a Dancer's repertoire, the Monster Master's skills eventually meet heavy resistance as the player progresses through the main game.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

The Monster Wrangler was included in the third remake of the third game in the series, utilizing the design seen in X. They have high resilience, strength, speed, and agility and can use a variety of heavier weapons and are relatively varied in their selection of armor. This class is unique in that they learn new skills depending on how many monsters the player has recruited. Said skills also grow in power the more monsters the player recruits.

Dragon Quest VI

The M.M. suffers considerable reductions to their strength, resilience, HP, and MP in all versions of VI, befitting a starting vocation characters are not meant to spend too much time in. Various breath skills are learned through the profession, in addition to the Puff! spell upon mastery.

In the original version of VI, having a master in the party activates the chance that a monster will join you upon its defeat, however this function was dropped in the Nintendo DS remake in lieu of Slime Buddies. Monster Master is one of the prerequisites for the Ranger vocation (along with Merchant and Thief).

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

Replacing the older Monster Masher vocation of 2.5D versions, the Monster Master requires both the Thief and Shepherd[ess] vocations. It effectively summons rare monsters to aid the party, and has a chance of calling in metallic monsters for the party to fight.

Dragon Quest X

The Monster Master is one of the two advanced vocations available in version 2.0 of Dragon Quest X. They can use Claws, Greatswords, Axes, Fisticuffs, each one with their own individual skill trees, and can furthermore equip Whips with a unique skill tree, different from the other Vocations; their exclusive skill tree is aptly called Monster Master (まものマスター). Their Coup de Grâce is Wild Side. They have the ability to scout organic monsters such as Slimes or Teeny Sanguinis to become permanent party members.
