Lightning Thrust is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances
Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake
Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake as a Souped-Up Skill, it is activated by combining the Hero's Lightning Slash with the Soul Sigil and costs 24 MP to use.
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake
Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is once again activated by combining Caradoc's Lightning Slash with the Soul Sigil and costs 30 MP to use.
Dragon Quest VIII
Debuting as a stronger version of Thunder Thrust, it is learned when the Hero invests 59 skill points into the Spear skill tree. It can deliver a critical hit on an enemy for a 50% accuracy rate, but consumes Tension if used, costing 3 MP in the process. In the 3DS remake, it no longer consumes Tension.
Dragon Quest XI
Reappearing for the first time in the main series since VIII, it now appears as a separate skill from Thunder Thrust and is learned when 16 skill points are invested in Jade's Spears Character Builder. It now has more accuracy in delivering a critical hit, making it more useful to hunt Metal slimes and costs 9 MP to use.
Dragon Quest Swords
Appearing as the Master Stroke for the Thunderbolt blade, it is used by raising the sword overhead and rotating it greatly, while pushing overhead causes lighting to strike the blade and damages the enemy by thrusting.
Dragon Quest Treasures
Known as Electroslash in this spinoff game, it is learned by Orc kings, Loss leaders, Red giants, and Ultra Marines, dealing a series of rapid thrusts that inflict major physical damage on any and all enemies that get in the way, likely inflicting critical damage in the process. It costs 3 MP to use for the first time since VIII.
