Gritty Ditty is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.
Description
This song raises the attributes of all party members by one level, depending on the game.
Appearances
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake
Appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake as a Souped-Up Skill, it is activated by combining Gawain's Egg On with the Soul Sigil and increases both the ATK and DEF of the whole party. It costs 30 MP to use, and is also used by the King of Dirkandor.
Dragon Quest VII
Making its debut, it is learned by reaching rank 5 as a Warrior and/or Troubadour immediately after completing the other in the PS1 original and increases the defence of all party members by one level for 0 MP, making it similar to Kabuff. In the 3DS version, as hybrid abilities no longer exist, it is learned by Gladiators at rank 3, Luminaries at rank 5, and Druids at rank 1 and can only be used by those classes. In the game's Reimagined version, it is instead a Let Loose technique for the Sailor vocation.
Dragon Quest IX
Acting mostly the same as in its debut, it can be sung by any character that has the 'Minstrel's Manual' (quest #102) item in their inventory, though from this entry onwards, the song actually increases the attack of all party members, rather than defence. It costs 16 MP to use, and is also used by Genie sanguinis and Moai minstrels in battle.
Dragon Quest X
Now an enemy only skill, it is used by Caterwaulin' Kelps, Celtic fauns, Hornipillars, Queenie sanguinis, Muccino if any allies are turned into him via Devil Enraja's Muccino Haze, and the Sea breeze diva, as well as Genie Sanguinis once again.
Dragon Quest XI
Still an enemy only skill, it is used by Mothertoads, as well as a Toady in the Wheel of Harma. When 2 or more Mothertoads are Pepped Up, it turns into the Oompha Music Pep Power.
Dragon Quest Heroes & Dragon Quest Heroes II
Although unusable by any of the main heroes, Genie Sanguinis can use Gritty Ditty in battle to augment their allies' attack much like Oomph. If a Genie Sanguini is summoned with its Monster Medal, it will perform Gritty Ditty on the party.
Dragon Quest of the Stars
Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is a skill for the Wargod's sword and Wargod's fan, but can also be equipped to other weapons.
Dragon Quest Tact
Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by Seraphi at level 31 and costs 34 MP to use.
Dragon Quest Walk
Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Jerkuleses in battle.
