Sleep Attack (Sleep Sock in the Joker games and Sleepy Slap in III HD-2D and II HD-2D) is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.

Description

Launches a melee attack that may knock the target unconscious.

Appearances

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake

Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is used by Morphean Mushrooms once again.

Dragon Quest II

Making its debut, it is used by Mummies, Men o' war, Merluscs, and Malroth to try and put the Scions of Erdrick to sleep, in addition to damaging them, though only in the NES version for the latter two (The HD-2D Remake brings it back for the Merluscs and the Master of Destruction himself). In the HD-2D Remake, it is already learned by the Princess of Cannock when she accompanies Gawain and then joins the Scions of Erdrick full-time. It costs 5 MP to use once again, and is also used by Pot Shots and Brute Bat, as well as Morphean Mushrooms once again.

Dragon Quest III

Acting the same from this game onwards, it is used by Morphean Mushrooms to put Erdrick and his companions to sleep. In the HD-2D Remake, it is learned by Thieves at level 5 and costs 5 MP to use, in addition to being used by Flying flayers and Dying Fires in battle.

Dragon Quest IV

Acting the same as in its last 2 appearances, it is used by Bantamweights, Vampire battlers, Bodkin bowyers, Fat bats, and Master Kung in battle, as well as Decayurions in the remakes.

Dragon Quest V

Now a usable skill by players, it is learned by recruited Funghouls at level 5, recruited Fandangows at level 10, and already learned by recruited Bad apples. It costs 0 MP to use, and is also used by Drooling ghouls, Hula ghouls, Snake ch-arm-ers, and Morphean molluscs in battle.

Dragon Quest VI

An enemy only skill once again from this game onwards, it is used by Hell gladiators and Pot shots in battle.

Dragon Quest VII

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is used by Mousenaps, Decayurions, Bagley and even Robber barons in the 3DS remakes. In the Reimagined remake, it is used by Togrus Maximus.

Dragon Quest VIII

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Terror tabbies, Dark skeletons, Dead bowdyies, and Gold nugcats, as well as Mummies, Morphean Mushrooms, Bodkin Bowyers, and Hell Gladiators once again.

Dragon Quest IX

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Parched peckerels, as well as Morphean Mushrooms once again.

Dragon Quest X

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Bloodbonnets, Cosmo ghouls, Muddy fingers, Incubuses, Devil marus, Space demons, and Ayashiitakes, as well as Mummies, Morphean Mushrooms, Drooling Ghouls, Bodkin Bowyers, and Hell Gladiators once again.

Dragon Quest XI

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Bite bulbs and Dazey, as well as Morphean Mushrooms and Bodkin Bowyers once again.

Dragon Warrior Monsters

Called NapAttack in this game, it requires the monster to reach level 7 with 49 max HP, 42 ATK and 42 INT. It is naturally learned by the ArmyAnt, Gulpple, Lipsy, SpotKing, Toadstool and Tonguella.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2

NapAttack now requires 76 Intelligence to learn. It is naturally learned by the Gamanian. It is no longer naturally learned by the Lipsy.

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by investing 10 skill points into the Nelgel the Netherlord skillset, 40 skill points into the Plum Queen skillset, 70 skill points into the Beast of the Sea skillset, and 85 skill points into the Cluboon II skillset, as well as the Assassin, Cold Sleep, Graveheart, Hive Mind, and Nightmare skillsets once again. It costs 4 MP to use once again.

Dragon Quest Walk

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by recruited Mummy boys and Funghouls at level 30, and Barbarus at level 10, costing 20 MP to use.

Dragon Quest Tact

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is already learned by Gargoyles, Mummy Boys, Mummies, Carnivines, Fandangows, and Bobongas when they are recruited, and costs 12 MP to use.

Dragon Quest Champions

Appearing as a Coup de Grâce for the Sleepy stick in this spinoff entry in addition to a usual skill, it deals 60% non-elemental physical damage to all random enemies 4 times while potentially putting them to sleep. It is also used by Bodkin Bowyers once again in battle.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by investing 10 skill points into the Charmer, Freeze, and Malroth skillsets, 20 skill points into the Cutpurse, Graveheart, Sleep Counsellor, and Sweet-Talker skillsets, 30 skill points into the Hive Mind and Nuisance skillsets, 50 skill points into the Assassin and Tongue Twister skillset, and 70 skill points into the Breath Taker, Irritant, and Multidisciplinarian skillsets, costing 4 MP for the first time since Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key.
