Lets the user sidestep an incoming attack, redirecting it to another (enemy) target.
Appearances
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
Only appearing in the game's Reimagined remake, it is learned by advancing to Proficiency Rank 5 of the Martial Artist vocation and costs 8 MP to use.
Dragon Quest IX
Making its debut, this ability is learned with 82 skill points allocated into the Shield skill tree. It costs 12 MP to use, and is also used by Wooper troopers, Salamarauders, Gum shields, and Mandrake monarchs in battle against their enemies.
Dragon Quest XI
Acting mostly the same as in IX, it is learned by investing 16 skill points into Hendrik's Shields Character Builder, but deflects all attacks to a random enemy and costs 12 MP to use once again.
Dragon Quest Walk
Acting the same as in XI, it is learned at level 10 when wielding the Dragon shield and Master dragon spear, level 8 when wielding the Metal slime shield and Champion's shield, level 6 when wielding the Tantegel shield, Shield of the chosen, Magic shield, Boss shield, Lawson shield, Gold Tantegel shield, and already learned when wielding the Hero's shield, Aeras shield, Holy knight's shield, and Large shield of sworn allies, costing 18 MP to use.

Etymology
- Uke-nagashi (受け流し) refers to a defensive technique in Japanese swordfighting and martial arts that involves deflecting and redirecting an opponent's attack.
- The skill's English name is a reference to the saying "back at you" when you do wrongdoings, like as of karma comes back at you.
